JANICE ROBERTSON, SFCA, NWWS, LAI, AFC, was born on Vancouver Island in 1952, into a family with a long history of women artists. She lives with her artist husband, Alan Wylie, in the historic village of Fort Langley, British Columbia.
Janice launched her career as a professional artist in 1989. She has received many awards over the years including The Foreign Award in the Houston Watercolor Society’s Exhibition in Texas in 2004, The Margaret and William Foley Award in the Adirondacks National Exhibition of Watercolors in New York in 2008, and she has won the Bronze Medal three times, in the Federation of Canadian Artists Annual Signature Members Exhibition in Vancouver. In 2016, she won the grand prize in the invitational plien air competition, “Paint on the Mountain” through the Harmony Arts Festival in West Vancouver. In 2017, she won second place in the same competition.
Janice is a signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Artists for Conservation, Landscape Artists International, and the Northwest Watercolor Society. She served as President of the Federation of Canadian Artists from 1999 to 2001. She is listed in Who’s Who in Canada and her paintings are in collections throughout the world. She is also a popular and well-respected workshop instructor, juror, and the author of two instructional books on painting acrylics: “Acrylics Basics” and “Still Life in Acrylics”.

“I love to paint light and the beauty of simple things. After over 30 years of painting, I am still learning and discovering new ways of expression. It is a privilege to be able to make a living at something that I find so joyful – I am very grateful.”
