Irish Eyes (1963 – 2018): The ravenous opioid crisis claims another victim. Michael O’Toole’s family wants to be open about this, to show that the crisis can strike anyone, anywhere.
The loss of this incandescent talent – and world’s nicest person – is heart-breaking. Michael loved art to his core, and had so much yet to give.
The photo is a frame from a video taken while Michael was lightly touching up a painting of his at the gallery. He was a joy to have around and he will be missed terribly.
Listen to a CBC Radio interview with gallery owner Dennie Segnitz about the loss of Michael.
MICHAEL O’TOOLE, S.F.C.A. (1963 – 2018) was a native of British Columbia. He studied architectural design at a technical institute, then worked with firms in that field. In 1991, he won a prize for “Best Home Design.” Later, painting became Michael’s all-consuming passion. As an artist he painted mainly impressionistic acrylics with landscape, seascape and architecture as his chief subjects.
