Artist LOUISE LAUZON was born in 1956 in Montreal where she still lives. She was introduced to art at a young age and, at age 15, she had the opportunity to study with Brother Jerome at Notre-Dame College. That mentorship, and the friendship which grew from it, influenced the course of Lauzon’s art and life to this day. She has also been inspired by Jean-Paul Lemieux, Gaugin, McEwen, Marcel Barbeau and Toulouse-Lautrec among others.
Lauzon has developed her own style which she describes as “personal figurative” and which she follows when painting portraits, landscapes and abstract works. Her use of medium includes acrylics but also inks and watercolours. Her work can be found in many private collections including the important Pratt and Whitney collection. In addition to her work as an active painter, she has also gained considerable expertise in contemporary art history.
