Artist HERB LATREILLE worked as an engineer for more than twenty years. His innate sensitivity to form and structure found a new avenue for expression in the world of sculpting. He is thankful each day for the opportunity to ‘live the dream’ with his second career.
Smooth contours and highly polished surfaces are valuable aspects of Herb’s sculpture. Working in a variety of stone (alabaster, marble, jade, limestone, rhodonite, and granite), he takes his inspiration from both animal and human forms. His sculptures, which range from small tabletop pieces to major commercial works, are appreciated throughout North America and internationally.
Herb is especially grateful for the mentorship he received from renowned sculptor George Pratt, and he believes in paying it back by paying it forward. To that end, he has freely offered his time to help teach others and launch the careers of many budding and now successful sculptors.
